I’ve heard that getting lost in nature is becoming increasingly difficult. While it’s still possible, modern technology makes it harder. With a great many ways to communicate with satellites, devices like phones, computers, tablets, and the vehicles themselves provide a redundancy should one not work. GPS, terrain software and mapping and your vehicles navigation system can all help your get back to the road or town nearest you.  If you have an emergency when enjoying nature, emergency assistance will find you, but if you're simply lost and are in no immediate danger, its up to you to find your way home. With todays technology to help you stay in touch with the outside world, makes you question if you can ever really get lost.  While it's still possible, it would take quite a few misfortunes for it to happen.
Now, getting stuck or having a mechanical breakdown is an entirely different story. If knowing where your at is a given with today's technology and you  find yourself stranded far from civilization, if shouldn't take you long to calculate the distance to the nearest town as you contemplate the cost to repair your vehicle and how long it will take! I always hope they have a decent little diner, that serves some incredibly good food. It helps!
